Summer Youth Institute
The National Black Nurses Association's Summer Youth Enrichment institute, started in 2010, is a one day enrichment program offered to children and teens during NBNA's Annual Conference. The program is designed to increase the awareness and the understanding of the role of nurses in the healthcare system. The one day event is designed to promote healthy lifestyle behaviors and age appropriate test taking skills that are known to increase the participant's success in the areas of math and science. The Institute was the brainchild of Eboni Martin, the daughter of Dr. Yuvonne Martin, the former president of BNA, Miami.
