The Opportunity

Women & Infants Hospital (WIH), a member of Care New England, is seeking a Senior Vice President/Chief Nursing Officer (CNO).  Responsible for day-to-day operations of Patient Care Services, the CNO will drive a culture of high performance and continuous improvement at WIH to ensure the delivery of high quality, world-class healthcare services.  This is an exceptional opportunity for an experienced nursing administrator to lead the transformation of WIH through growth, resource optimization and integration with Care New England.  
The Organization
Women & Infants is the ninth largest stand-alone obstetrical service in the country and the largest in New England with more than 8,000 deliveries per year. WIH has 167 licensed beds and annual net revenues for FY2019 were over $400 million. In 2018, WIH received a 4-Stars rating from the Centers for Medicaid and Medicare Services and was ranked #11 by the U.S. News & World Report.  WIH is also a Designated Baby-Friendly® USA hospital, received the Women’s Choice Award for America’s Best Hospitals for Obstetrics, Cancer Care, Best Breast Centers in 2015 and 2016, and was name a 2014 Leapfrog “Top Hospital”.  WIH is the major teaching affiliate of The Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University for obstetrics, gynecology, and newborn pediatrics, as well as a number of specialized programs in women’s medicine.
Based in Providence, RI, Care New England (CNE) is a non-profit health system comprised of Butler Hospital, Kent Hospital and Women & Infants Hospital. Care New England's strengths are based on complementary programs and distinctive competencies of its member hospitals and agencies.
The Position
The CNO reports to the President of Women & Infants Hospital who in turn reports to the Chief Executive Officer for Care New England. The CNO is a key member of the WIH senior management team and is responsible for planning, organizing, directing and controlling the overall patient care function for the Hospital. The CNO communicates, supports and implements organizational strategic plans and vision to members of Patient Care Services.
