Job Description: 
The Oakland University School of Nursing is seeking applications for exceptional nurse clinicians and educators for five (5) Special Instructors to meet the needs of growing programs to begin August 15, 2024.

Special Instructors hired into these positions will be expected to teach both undergraduate courses and clinical rotations as well as graduate courses and clinical rotations based on their qualifications.

Candidates must also demonstrate experience with or commitment to diversity and inclusion and developing a diverse faculty and student body.  Recent/current clinical experience and expertise in acute care, maternal child/OB, pediatrics (prefer pediatric acute care NP certification), leadership, psych/mental health nursing (prefer PMH NP certification), simulation, forensic nursing, or adult-geriatric NP (primary care or acute care) desired, but all qualified applicants will be considered.

Minimum Qualifications:
Candidates must hold a current unrestricted Michigan Registered Nurse license or be eligible for Michigan RN licensure if hired; candidates must also hold a certification in a nursing specialty area.
In addition, they will be expected to maintain their certification, and show a commitment to OU, the SON, and professional service.

It is preferred that candidates have a completed doctorate (PhD, DNP, DNSc, etc.) from an accredited university.  Applicants who have completed a master’s degree in nursing from an accredited program and university and are enrolled in an accredited doctoral program may be considered.

Previous/current teaching experience in a nursing program is preferred.

Candidates must be able to demonstrate exceptional written, oral and interpersonal communication skills.

School/College/Dept Summary:
The School of Nursing offers high quality and accessible education through the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) and the Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Programs (COA) accredited programs, including:
three BSN tracks (Basic/Traditional, Accelerated Second-Degree, and RN-BSN Completion),
five MSN tracks (Adult-Gerontological Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (NP), Adult-Gerontological Primary Care NP, Family NP, Forensic Nursing, and Clinical Nurse Leader), and
two DNP tracks (Nurse Anesthesia and Post-Master’s DNP).

In addition, the SON offers a Ph.D. program with post-BSN, post-MSN, and post-DNP options.
