Job Title: Vice President of Health Education and Communications
Position: Full-time
Reports to: Executive Director
FORCE improves the lives of the millions of individuals and families facing hereditary breast, ovarian, pancreatic, prostate, colorectal and endometrial cancers. Our community includes people with a BRCA, ATM, PALB2, CHEK2, PTEN or other inherited gene mutation and those diagnosed with Lynch syndrome.
We are seeking a VP of Health Education and Communication to work as a resource to all FORCE program owners and to lead the development and review of educational, plain language communications. The ideal candidate would have a masters or doctoral level expertise in health education or public health, nursing or nurse navigation with a strong background in health communication and health promotion.
Responsibilities:
- Review education, research and public policy content to assure clear, culturally competent, plain language communication. This includes programs such as: XRAY: eXamining the Relevance ofArticles for You , educational pages of our website, brochures, research study listings, public policy updates, newsletters, brochures, presentations and other public-facing educational campaigns;
- Work with FORCE team across pillars to improve plain language aspects of our health communication;
- Work with partners and consultants to assure that communications and materials are culturally competent;
- Work with FORCE Advisory Board to assure communications are accurate and consistent with current evidence and/or guidelines;
- Review presenter slides for webinars and conferences to improve plain language communication and understandability of presentations for FORCE community.
Competencies
The ideal candidate would have a masters or doctoral level expertise in health education or public health, nursing or nurse navigation with a strong background in health communication and health promotion along with:
- Plain language health communication and health education skills
- Strong writing skills
- Strong understanding of cancer genetics, prevention and detection and treatment;
- Strong understanding of health literacy, the drivers of health disparities and inequities and approaches to overcome them;
- Strong understanding of research principles and statistics, ability to read and understand research study design and research results;
- Ability to find and understand information on current cancer treatment and prevention guidelines
