Associate Chief Nurse Officer (ACNO), Health Equity & Research

Position Overview

Located in beautiful, Northern California, Palo, Alto, we have an inaugural leadership opportunity for the Associate Chief Nurse Officer, Health Equity & Research:
  • Responsible and accountable for establishing and maintaining excellence in nursing practice and effectiveness and efficiency of nursing and research operations and practice within their defined areas of responsibility.
  • Facilitates collaborative professional relationships between and among medical staff, academic programs, school of medicine deans/faculty/staff, corporate programs, and hospital operations to create a healing and supportive environment for patients and staff.
  • Models the values, acts in accordance with nursing policies and procedures and holds others accountable for meeting standards which may be informed by industry best practices or may be regulatory in nature.
  • Provides leadership for advancing, developing, refining and innovating nursing clinical, patient care, research, health equity delivery operations throughout the inpatient programs and organization.
The ACNO Health Equity & Research provides highly responsible administrative support to the CNO; and may act for the CNO in his / her absence when delegated.

Education Qualifications
  • Must have a degree in nursing (baccalaureate and graduate degree). Master's degree in a work-related discipline/field from an accredited college or university; PhD Doctor of Philosophy Degree in Nursing is required.
Experience Qualifications
  • A minimum of seven (7) years of increasingly responsible healthcare leadership experience, with a proven track record in ambulatory and/or general hospital clinical operations, clinical research, health equity and clinical program development and related business planning and performance management.
  • Experience in the following environments: labor unions, shared leadership governance, matrix reporting relationship, clinical, health services and health equity research, and an academic medical center. ANCC Magnet experience is preferred.
Licenses and Certifications
  • CA-RN (Registered Nurse) required
