Family Nurse Practictioner
Faculty Opportunity
Loyola University Chicago, the largest Jesuit Catholic university in the nation, and the Marcella Niehoff School of Nursing (MNSON) invite applications for a faculty position in the population focused area of Family Nurse Practitioner. This is an open rank position.

The faculty member will teach primarily in our advanced practice nursing program but will be expected to teach across program levels as needed, consistent with the faculty member’s academic and experiential qualifications and expertise.
The MNSON enrolls over 1400 students across three sites and includes 71 full-time faculty. Programs include a BSN degree with 4 study options, an MSN degree in nursing and healthcare administration, a DNP degree with multiple track options for advanced practice nursing preparation or systems leadership, a post-graduate certificate program for preparation in advanced practice nursing, and a PhD in Nursing degree.
Within the context of the Loyola University Chicago and MNSON missions, visions, values, and strategic initiatives, the faculty member will be responsible for:
  • Establishing a defined philosophy and pedagogy of teaching, consistent with the tenets and principles of Ignatian pedagogy.
  • Building expertise in defined areas of teaching content and methods, including online education.
  • Collaborating with internal and external partners in developing and implementing multidisciplinary and interprofessional teaching, scholarship, and service initiatives.
  • Developing a defined program of scholarship and disseminate scholarship through peer-reviewed publications and presentations.
  • Advising and mentoring students on projects and committees.
  • Serving on University, MNSON, community, and professional initiatives.
  • Assist the FNP/FNP-ENP program track director with student advising, program planning or clinical placements.
  • Maintaining active practice as a Family Nurse Practitioner in a primary care or emergency care setting.
Candidates for this faculty position will possess:
  • Doctoral degree in nursing or a related field
  • Eligibility for licensure as a Family Nurse Practitioner in the state of Illinois
  • Academic and clinical expertise for the Family Nurse Practitioner role
  • A program of scholarship, or the potential to establish and maintain a program of scholarship, consistent with the expectations of rank.
