The School of Nursing at Cleveland State University invites highly motivated individuals to apply for any of the three (3) full-time tenure-track appointments as described below.  The start date for all three positions is August 16, 2021.  
 
Position/Title/Rank:  Assistant Professor or Clinical Assistant Professor specializing in Adult Health  - Job Summary: This is a full-time tenure-track appointment at the rank of Clinical Assistant Professor or Assistant Professor with adult health nursing experience.  Teaching assignments may include teaching in undergraduate and graduate-level courses in the classroom and/or clinical settings.

Position/Title/Rank: Assistant/Associate Professor or Clinical Assistant/Associate Professor specializing in Maternal-Infant - Job Summary: This is a full-time tenure-track appointment at the rank of Clinical Assistant/Associate Professor or Assistant/Associate Professor with the nursing specialty in Maternal & Newborn nursing.  Teaching assignments may include teaching in undergraduate and graduate-level courses in the classroom and/or clinical settings.

Position/Title/Rank: Assistant/Associate Professor or Clinical Assistant/Associate Professor specializing in Pediatrics-Adolescence - Job Summary: Cleveland State University seeks to attract an active, culturally and academically diverse faculty of the highest caliber. The School of Nursing at Cleveland State University invites highly motivated applicants for a full-time tenure-track appointment at the rank of Clinical Assistant/Associate Professor or Assistant/Associate Professor with the nursing specialty in the care of children and adolescents.  Teaching assignments may include teaching in undergraduate and graduate-level courses in the classroom and/or clinical settings.

These faculty would partner with other disciplines to create innovative research agendas regarding care of adults and the elderly during their lifespan.  Faculty members are expected to pursue scholarly activity in their area of clinical specialization. Additional responsibilities include advising students, curriculum development, program assessment, and university service.  Faculty enjoy the opportunity to engage student learning, a healthy work environment in the life of the School of Nursing, a unique urban research University and a vibrant community.
 
Minimum Qualifications:
  • A Doctorate in Nursing (DNP or PhD) with at least two years clinical nursing experience in caring for adult clients.
    • PhD must be earned by July 1, 2021. 
    • Candidates who are “all but dissertation” (ABD) are eligible for hire as an instructor until PhD degree is awarded. 
  • DNP degrees must be awarded within one year of hire date. 
  • Eligibility for Ohio Nursing license as a registered nurse with a record of clinical practice excellence.  
Preferred Qualifications: 
  • At least 2 years of teaching experience in classroom or clinical settings;
  • Record of clinical excellence in nursing practice and/or nursing education that supports the undergraduate and graduate nursing curriculum;
  • Demonstrates commitment to nursing as a profession;
  • Evidence of participating in nursing organizations at a leadership level;
  • The ability to contribute through teaching and/or service to the diversity, cultural sensitivity, and excellence of the academic community.

Please note the successful candidate will be required to submit an official transcript before the contract can be prepared. The interview process will include a demonstration of clinical/teaching competency.

Hiring is contingent on maintaining existing levels of funding from the State of Ohio. Offer of employment is contingent on satisfactory completion of the University’s verification of credentials (including evidence of progress toward completion of a DNP or PhD) by July 1 2021 and other information required by law and/or University policies or practices, including but not limited to a criminal background check. Note:  The successful candidate is required to submit an official transcript before their contract can be prepared.
