HEART/CARDIOVASCULAR DISEASE: All chapters provide screening and health education activities related to cardiovascular disease. Chapters provide hypertension screening and referral; smoking cessation intervention programs; cholesterol screening and referral; CPR training; and, education regarding heart attack prevention and early treatment. The Association holds seats on the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute's Hypertension, Cholesterol Education Heart Attack and Smoking Committees and the International Society for Hypertension in Blacks (ISHIB). Seventeen chapters are involved in a national research project in collaboration with ISHIB.
